Panasonic SC-NE1 Features

  • The Panasonic SC-NE1 doesn't need a LAN network to operate, it can stream music from any Bluetooth Wireless Technology-compatible digital device! It makes sharing and enjoying music so much easier, because you can stream something stored on your friend or family's device no matter where they are

  • The Panasonic SC-NE1 is equipped with a 2-Way Speaker System that boasts a 3-1/8" Long Stroke Woofer with a Nanosized Bamboo Cone & 1" Tweeter. This gives you rich & robust sound, from crystal-clear treble to deep, pulsating bass
  • The Panasonic SC-NE1 Wireless Speaker System uses an innovative Aero Stream Port to produce dynamic bass with minimal distortion. Its unique 3-dimensional structure and rounded corners provide smoother and steadier airflow
  • The Panasonic SC-NE1 Wireless Speaker System is equipped with a bamboo cone speaker which provides greater sonic clarity while minimizing distortion. Plus, the all-new SC-NE3 boasts finer bamboo fibers than previous models, so the sound is cleaner and clearer than ever before
  • When sound waves bounce off surrounding surfaces, the scattering that results often causes music to sound noisy and distorted. But the Panasonic SC-NE1 comes with noise-canceling technology

The SC-NE1 is sleek looking with all black construction and a display that you don’t even know is there until the unit it turned on. It has a good substantial feeling with quality construction. It has five control buttons on top of the speaker system. On/Off, input selector (Bluetooth or Aux.), Dynamic Bass sound effect selector, and volume up/down controls. On the top front is an easy to read LCD display. One nice feature is that the display can be dimmed. An enhancement of this feature would be to vary the dim level. Bluetooth was easy to configure and pairing take place fairly quickly. The SC-NE1 displays the name of the Bluetooth device once it is paired and connected. I easily paired my Galaxy Nexus phone and Nexus 7 table to the SC-NE1. I also paired my laptop with the SC-NE1, but did have to read the instructions closely to find the passkey, which is in fine print below the Bluetooth pairing instructions. Only one Bluetooth device can be paired device with the SC-NE1 at a time, but it is easy to switch from one paired device to another. I was able to stream music from my phone to the SC-NE1 from an amazing about 35 feet away. The most impressive feature of the SC-NE1 is the sound. It produces some seriously loud sound when the volume is turn up. The sound coming from the speaker system makes it sound larger than it actually is. It is plenty loud enough to use in a large room or outdoors on the back patio or yard. I ran the unit through several sound tests. The sound is very smooth with a good even timbre until the highest volume settings. As is expected with almost any sound system there is some slight distortion at very high volume levels. But at normal listening levels the high notes are crisp and clear. The mid-range tones are warm and smooth, if a little flat. The bass is mild until the dynamic bass is turned on. Then you have deep, thumping, punchy bass. Vocals are somewhat flat when the direct-vocal surround is off, but when Level 1 or Level 2 is selected, the vocal sound really expands and is room filling. I was impressed with how well the SC-NE1 reproduced guitar licks that were very crisp and cut through the accompanying music. Watching the Transformers Dark of the Moon on my laptop was much more enjoyable playing the sound through the SC-NE1. The sound was vibrant and the battle scenes erupted with such a rich expanse of sounds that I didn't think could possibly come from such a compact system. I also watched the Phantom of the Opera â€" playing the sounds through the SC-NE1. Again, I was impressed at how deep and rich the sounds were. The vocals were crisp; clear and rich with tone. The orchestral instruments from piccolo and oboe to the horns and violins were distinct and even soft pizzicato sounds could be clearly distinguished. I no longer have to hard-wire my phone, tablet, or computer to my surround system in order to have quality sounding streaming music. I can wirelessly stream music through the SC-NE1 without sacrificing sound quality. Now the only thing left to do is to find the best place to mount it on the wall.

Excellent Sound

By

from Iowa

My wife asked for a Bluetooth speaker system for Christmas. I reviewed quite a few different systems and this one seemed to be a good value. It was easy to sync to our Iphones. The sound is really good. We have bought several other brands of dock type speaker systems and this one by far has the best sound quality. The system is quite compact and you can put it anywear with an outlet. There are wall brackets included if you want to wall mount it. The system looks quite nice too. My wife had one request after we got it set up in the living room, she wanted another one for the bathroom.

Very impressed!

By

This is one of the best wireless speakers in the market; it synchs up quickly and has great sound quality. Larger than other wireless speakers in this class (probably helps with its superior sound quality) yet it is still small enough to be portable. Great for bedrooms, bathrooms, and even occasional outdoor usage (although this is not a waterproof system and since it doesn't use batteries you also have to be close to a power outlet), this is one powerful system. It won't be a replacement for mid/high-end entertainment systems in the main media room, but will be more than enough for all other rooms in the house. We recently used it for a backyard party to stream music and everyone was commenting on how clear and crisp the sound was even though we were outside. Aesthetically, it's a good looking piece of equipment; it's sleek and modern looking. It looks good alone but also does not stick out when it's put on the shelf with our other electronics. Initially I was skeptical on using a Bluetooth connection to stream music from my phone to the speaker. After a few weeks of usage, I can definitely say that there is no need to worry about the connection. Rarely does the connection drop/skip (only time was when I was extremely far away from the device and moving the phone a lot). It is very convenient to be able to still use my phone and listen to music at the same time. Will see how this holds up over time. However, initial impressions are very good!

An Unexpected Benefit

By

from Missouri, USA

It’s not often that I find a product that it unexpectedly changes my daily routine. Panasonic’s SC-NE1 Bluetooth Speaker did just that. I am constantly looking for the tech that can fit various needs or wants in my family’s life and this speaker accomplished this and more. First and foremost, it is very, very simple to setup. Right out of the box, I plugged it into an electrical outlet, turned on the Bluetooth on my Android phone, selected the speaker in the profiles and immediately the two paired. I started iHeart radio and we had music flooding our family room and kitchen. This occurred in a time span of less than five minutes. Among further inspection, I could set treble, bass, surround type, etc… Once I found the settings that best met my preferences I have not had to touch them since. The music comes out clear, robust and room filling. While the quality in the finish, the feel and the look is all top notch (I would expect nothing less from Panasonic) it is the unexpected daily use and family quality time it has encouraged that I find the most rewarding. My wife and I now spend more time in the kitchen together listening to our favorite play lists while preparing dinner together. Our television stays off, we find ourselves more focused on each other’s day rather than the local news telling us how awful the day has been for so many others. While enjoying each other’s company, we have a pleasing soundtrack of our lives filling the room as we settle in for the evening. It truly has changed how we spend the end of our busy day. One final note, I placed this unit on top of an armoire and out of the way. With the included remote I can turn the unit on, it automatically pairs with my phone and within seconds I have music. While the Bluetooth speaker is attractive in its own right it was not part of my wife’s original interior design. With Bluetooth, I never have to touch the speaker and it stays out of the visual space of my wife’s carefully designed family room. A win-win for all involved.

Sleek look - good sound SC-NE1 Wireless Speakers

By

from Santa Cruz, CA, USA

Right out of the box, I was impressed with the look - the clean lines, sleek shape, and unobtrusive design. It's looks appear to be designed to blend in rather than stand out. I decided to forgo the wall bracket installation, as I prefer to just place the unit on a shelf. But, the installation looked simple enough if I ever decide to do it. I was able to unpack it, hook it up and pair it with my HTC Inspire smart phone in about 7 minutes, but I was not rushing. I did have to look at the manual at one point to figure out how to start the Bluetooth pairing process. I was surprised when I realized I had to use the small included remote to initiate the pairing, and it was a multi-step process. I would have preferred to have had a dedicated pairing button on the unit itself. But, the pairing was quick, and I was listening to music right away. I moved my phone about 30 feet away, and I still had a good connection within line of site. Through a wall and cabinets, that was reduced to about 20 feet. I then paired it with my computer. Since my computer has built in Bluetooth, I did not have to get a USB Bluetooth adapter. Now I suddenly had access to my entire music library. Switching between Bluetooth devices requires having to tell the speakers to first disconnect from a previous device before you can pair with a new device, which makes switching between devices a little more cumbersome than necessary. The blue LED display looks cool, and is very necessary navigate the many menu choices. The Sound menu covers the basic Bass and Treble, but also include 5 EQ presets, something called D.Bass, and presets for pseudo surround sound (called D.surround). Settings for Bass and Treble seem to make only a small difference, but the preset EQ settings have noticeable differences. I do have a few issues with changing settings that annoy me a bit: Every time you make a change, the sound cuts out between one setting and the next. This makes it harder to hear what the difference between settings is. I tried the two surround settings, and found that the effect gave some fullness with certain types of music, and increased the sound separation, which helped because of the fact that you can not move the left and right speakers apart. However, this is most detectable if you are right in front of the speakers. Let's talk sound quality . . . I thinks it's very good, the sound is rich and covers a decent frequency range. The 40watts (or 30watts depending on which rating you go by) packs a nice punch, but don't expect to rattle the windows. If you want thundering bass, you will have to look into one of the higher end units that have a separate subwoofer. I am impressed with how much sound comes out of this small package. I downloaded the Panasonic Music Stream app from Google Play, and found it to be easy to use. It allows you to easily switch from the phones internal speakers to the SC-NE1, which is probably it's only real advantage over any other music app. There is no instructions in the manual about the app, or that it even exists at all. It is noted only on the box! It would have been really cool if it had some remote capabilities built in to control or see the speaker's settings, but alas, you are forced to use the included remote(which, by the way, is really small, and may be easily misplaced.) Conclusion: If you are looking for a fairly compact wireless speaker system with decent sound, and don't need booming bass, this system will fit the bill. It is even relatively portable, though you will need an AC outlet as there is no battery option. There are lot's of settings to make the music sound the way you want, and it is easy to set up. Is it better than the competition? I can't answer that, I have not had the opportunity to compare them. But I will say that, once this unit is configured for it's environment, it does the job.

Great sound and easy setup

By

from Indiana, USA

Having four smartphones and a trio of tablets in the house, my family has a diverse music collection that we all enjoy listening to with each other from time to time. This speaker system certainly allows us to do just that. Whether country from my phone, hip-hop from my daughter's tablet, or an audio book for my wife this thing sounded great. Each new device we connected was simple to setup and control, the remote is easy to understand and use, and the ability to mount this unit on a wall if you wanted to made my son want to claim it as his own and hang it in his room as soon as he heard how loud and clear this thing can be. I found the bluetooth connectivity amazingly clear from across a large room. All in all, I think I may have to get one for each of my kids, in addition to the one I already have, since we all prefer this over any of our headphones and ear buds now.
