The Small Product Kit provides a complete lighting system and lessons for taking properly lighted digital photographs of many kinds of small products
Photoflex's Small Product Kit includes two each of the Starlite 3200 lighting system, SilverDome nxt softbox, and four-section Litestand, plus an instructional CD-ROM featuring assembly information and lessons that help users maximize kit capabilities rightaway so they can take excellent photographs of small products such as ceramics, crystal, arts and crafts items, coins, stamps, models, paintings, gems, and jewelry.
The Starlite 3200 tungsten light has been designed specifically for use with a softbox to provide soft, even, natural-looking light at a fraction of the cost of studio lights. It permits continuous lighting with an innovative housing design that allows air to flow through the unit and prevent overheating. Each Starlite comes with a 500-watt (120v) tungsten lamp that produces even, brilliant lighting.
The SilverDome nxt extra-small softbox bathes subjects in soft, diffused light while ensuring maximum output from any light source. When used with the Starlite 3200, the softbox's silver-lined interior offers maximum light output, creating soft highlights and even, natural lighting while eliminating hotspots. A removable diffusion face quickly switches lighting output from soft to high contrast. Side vents, rear flaps, and Photoflex's proprietary Brimstone fabric make the SilverDome heat resistant and durable. Steel support rods provide extra strength compared to the aluminum or fiberglass rods of competitors. Carry bags ensure easy transport and storage of the softboxes. The SilverDome's size is 12x16x9 inches (30x41x23 cm).
Firm, steady softbox and light support is provided by a Litestand 2205, which extends to seven feet (213 cm) and holds up to six pounds of lighting equipment. Thick, oversized aluminum tubing helps ensure maximum strength and stability, and bolted rather than riveted joints can be replaced quickly and easily.
A Starlite Connector FV is also included to fit the light with each softbox. The rugged, all-metal connector will not break, melt, or warp.
Although the Small-Product-Photography Lighting Kit is designed for use with hot lights, it can also be used with strobes. Strobe connectors can be purchased at additional cost, depending on the kind of lighting equipment used.
The CD contains lessons produced by Web Photo School, an operating unit of Photoflex. Text and photos provide kit assembly instructions, initial digital-camera set up, digital-imaging basics, photography of small products using the kit's one or two lights, and other commercial techniques. Photoflex's annual product catalog also is provided as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file.
In addition, a University of Photoflex CD is provided, featuring mini-lessons that provide new strategies and techniques for taking better digital photos
