I got the light as a portable light for my small studio. It stopped working during my shooting very first time: the flash tube is loosing from the base (welding broken). Besides, the color temp and output power is not accurate as promoted, not mention the unit price of ($) is almost double of photogenic's competitors...

I have had two of these units for several years and like them. I use them for background lights and side lights. They only have three settings, so sometimes I have to tweak the light intensity by taping a piece of paper over the front. They are pretty sturdy. I have knocked them over a couple times and they still work fine. It's true that the flash tube is not replaceable, but the tubes last a long time. The snoot accessory is a little hard to get on and off but it works. They recycle a little slower than my main light (a PL1250), so if I shoot too fast they don't fire. But it's not usually a big problem.

These units (I now have five) are some of the best I've ever owned and, for the price, you can't beat them. I like the fact that you can set them at full, half and quarter power output and they also have the modeling lamp on/off switch

This product is great, it's small and lightweight but it gives me more brightness than I need so in one way its great but in another its not….I have to deflect the light the other way not directly on my clients faces so they dont look overexposed…other than that its great!

Excellent on a boom due to its lightweight. I use it on lowest power for a hairlight at about 16 inches from the subject's hair. Recycles in about 1/2 second at low power. Unique stand adapter allows easy tilting. You may need to use a plug in photocell if you are not using a fill light because the built in photocell sometimes doesn't see the flash.

These are good cheap monolights to use as accent lights or spare (back-up) lights. Lightweight and easy to carry on location. Have owned several over the years. When they burn out throw them away... the flashtube is non-replaceable. Everything is plastic and they break easily if overtightened or dropped.

I own three of these strobes and they are used for various purposes such as a background light, fill light (etc). You will not be disapointed if you purchase these lights. I use more powerful lights in the studio right along with these strobes. They are great for the first time photographer.
