Profoto uses the most advanced and reliable rechargeable batteries: Lithium Ion Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4). These batteries include sophisticated electronics and monitoring controls, adjusting output to assure an optimal performance. LiFe cells offer a high capacity, up to 200 full power flashes per charge, 25% more than the previous lead acid version, in a package that is more than 20% lighter.

The integrated electronics also protect the LiFe battery against deep-discharge and overheating ensuring a significantly improved lifespan, up to 4 times that of lead acid. Of course, Profoto always strives to be compatible with previous products, the new batteries are fully compatible with older generators and the older batteries and chargers can be used with the Acute B2. The battery is licensed to travel and has been tested and certified according to UN manual of Test & Criteria, Part III and Sub-section 38.3.
