good starter filter

It does it's job, but the thing with filters is that how much money you put into them reflects their quality. I'm not saying that this filter is horrible by any means though because it does what it says it is supposed to do, just not as well as a high end one.

Good protection

I am just getting into photography, but I find that the lens is too dark at times. For instance, it's too dark to use when trying to take pictures of my son playing in his basketball games.

Great quality and price for a filter

The filter serves two purposes for me. One as a lens protector and the second for photo enhancement. Considering the price against bigger name filers the quality is exceptional.

Excellent starter filter

I'm a bit of a photograph snob in that I've long since outgrown the limitations of point-and-shoots and "inbetweeners," but I'm not aiming to get high-end, professional equipment anytime soon. I only have two Nikon lenses (also from Adorama), the 18-55 that came with my D5000 and a basic 55-200 lens. I've been using them for a couple of years with no real problems, but I'm going on vacation in a couple of months and knew I'd need to block out extra light/reflections. For the price, this filter has done everything I could ask of it without any intervention beyond screwing it to the front of the lens. My only complaint now is that my original lens caps don't clip onto the lens with the filter in; I have to assume that's by design, and that I should be taking the filter off when not in use.
