Bought this from good suggestion

Purchased 28-300mm zoom. New to photography so forgot to get these lenses. Sales person was very patient and explained why lenses were needed and how to use both zoom to full effect and lenses. I will buy camera body soon hfrom Adorama.

The rim is too narrow

Once I screwed the polarizing filter unto my lens I was unable to remove it. The width of the rim is too narrow for one to grasp it firmly enough to unscrew. It may be ok if your fingers are not as large, but otherwise you'll have problems.

Good for the price

While I never use the UV filter for "protection" more useful are the polarize and neutral density filters. Nicely packed in a case and both don't appear to compromise the photo color and image quality. Neutral density is somewhat limited with being only the one level as they typically come three different levels that are additive. Great starter though.

Filter essentials

By

An Ultraviolet (UV) filter is essential for protecting the lens and improving color rendtion. A neutral density (ND) is extremely useful and allows you to manage light in a way no other filter can do. The third piece of this kit is the color conversion filter, changing Fluorescent light into natural daylight. All three were bundled together with the Nikon 18 to 200 mm lens at no extra cost. FANTASTIC!!!

Maybe 1 out of 3

I don't use filters unless needed. The UV could function as a protective filter at mudy tractor pulls or something similar. Have not tested the CPL for color, but good ones will reduce reflections. The ND filter is too weak with only one stop difference, so it is mostly useless.

Superb as a bonus add-on

By

This set came free with a Sigma lens I purchased--at no additional cost (nice, Adorama!). You can't beat free, of course, but as a stand alone purchase, the quality of this set is merely average. If you're just looking for something really basic to learn from, this filter set is marvelous. The UV filter works well as a lens protect. I don't think this one degrades image quality, so it does its job well. If you're serious about your photos, you'll probably replace it in time with something multicoated that reflects water and is a bit easier to clean. I used the UV for a good 6 months before I decided I wanted the peace of mind of an upgrade. If this kit ships with your lens, you have a perfect lens protector to use while you investigate the purchase of a better one. The CPL is a bit flimsy (can't expect B+W quality at this price) and gave my pictures a blue/green tint. I promptly replaced it with one from Marumi. If you've never used a polarizer, this filter will let you learn before you invest in a pricey one. I didn't use the ND filter. It's only a 2-stop one, so it's not terribly useful. Again, if this is your first filter set, it can introduce you to the concept of ND filters, but it's just not dark enough for any practical usage.

Decent filter set for free

By

from California  -  Photo Enthusiast

This was a free bonus with my lens purchase. Filters are real glass, and the included case is pretty nice. I would have preferred a darker ND filter, but this is still a useful set to have, if you don't already have these particular filters.

Nice pouch

By

from NJ  -  Photo Enthusiast

CP seems to do the job, reduces the reflections on bright sun. Without filter under similar conditions I had to use editor to reduce highlights, filter made this step unnecessary. When I used UV, I got too low contrast on all my shots. i wouldn't insist that filter is a problem, but I suspect it is, and I will not use it any more. I didn't use ND. Oh, yes, and pouch is really nice:)
