Great Optical quality! Impressive value for the money! I would highly recommend this as an everyday go anywhere lens!

Rather a mediocre lens, there are so many better Pentax primes and zooms. Nice to see WR on a kit lens, though. It's easier to risk a lens like this in the rain, wher absolute IQ is meaningless anyway.

I had one of these lenses 10 years ago on my Pentax film Body? Somehow(?) in loaning them my camera for projects or assignments the body ended up missing, including the stock lens 18-55. I still maintained a Macro Zoom and a Telephoto. I bought a digital K 2000 body but found I need the 18-55mm lens as it was "by far" the most versatile. Great srvice from the first one.

An update to the kit lense that my K10D would have came with. Very easy to use and the wide angle feature is excellent.

Not a bad kit lens at all. When stopped down it can be very sharp, although beware of some field curvature. Very nice build quality and weather sealing in a lens of this calibre is a very nice touch.

Very happy with this purchase for a fantastic used K20d I purchased with it. For pretty much a "kit" lens the construction is exceptional. Zoom is positive with no creep. Manual focusing is very fast to register with camera but the ring motion is a bit slippery, not as positive as the zoom. Both rings have a superb rubber texture and though the focus ring is a little small it is NOT tiny. Zoom ring size is great. Non-rotating ring is good to have. Gasket on lens mount appears durable and does not interfere with mounting of lens. Pictures are sharp enough, still have more work on camera setup so it might be even better. Wish the lens was a little faster but is normal for a kit-type lens. Love that it is weather resistant. Only kit lens that makes sense to use with a weather resistant body. Hood is superb quality, has built in window, for use with polarizing filters with a lever, that fits so well you can't even see the seam! Very happy especially when the price is figured in. Not many dust and moisture resistant lenses can be had for this low of a price and with this build quality. Would be a 5 star, but I have sharper lenses, albeit at a SIGNIFICANTLY higher cost!

This is a beginner lens for the Pentax DSLRs. Construction is solid, weather resistant. Coupled with a reverse ring for the DSLR, I can also take good macro shots, though obviously not comparable to a dedicated macro lens. Good value for money until you spend on a more expensive 18-135 lens.

Very good for the price, an excellent low-cost match for a weather-sealed body.

I have a K200D and I was looking at the DA* 16-50mm but after reading some of the negative reviews I was a little nervous. Given that I already have a Sigma 24-60mm F2.8 (which I like) this weather sealed lens was just what I was looking for. Do not hesitate to buy this lens if you're looking for a well made, sharp, weather sealed, and inexpensive lens.

This is a great lens. I bought it to replace a Sigma 17-70. The resolution is a lot better, colour rendition is fantastic, nice bokeh, verryy light and with a useful lens hood that lets you play with your polariser filter. I love that I can carry it the whole day and not end up with a sore neck and back. If only it was a stop faster and 15mm longer, it would be perfect.

Looking for low cost weatherized alternative for K10 and K20. Was put off buy high cost of DA 16 - 50. Lack of SDM not an issue for my usage. Own Sigma 17 - 70 as main walkaround lens. Owned the orginal 18- 50. This lens was a definate upgrade to the orginal. Only replaces Sigma when weather an issue.
