Pyro Kompressor HD's included MPEG-2 encoder is a powerful, hardware accelerated tool for converting video data into MPEG-2 format. It supports almost all features of the approved MPEG standard. The encoder offers a simple as well as an advanced interface. The latter enables experts to perfect both their video and audio streams by adjusting a great number of settings and parameters, including the bit-rate, in order to obtain high-quality results for professional production environments.

The default settings of the software offer the novice excellent results. It also includes many ready-to-use presets for common production environments, such as 720p, 1080i, ATSC etc. Audio formats MPEG and LPCM audio are supported. The software is also shipped with the MPEG Decoder, enabling playback of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files in Windows Media Player and other DirectShow compatible programs.
