I've been looking to get the Canon 35mm for a long time - even had a friend willing to sell me his for only $1k. I am a fan of Randy Halverson and saw that he used this lens to capture the Milky Way. I did some research and decided to buy it. Took my first pics of the Milky Way with it on my Canon 6D and was extremely happy! The lens is heavy, but so is the Canon - that tells me it has good glass - not plastic.

I decided to try something supposedly better than my old canon 24-70 f/2.8 (the first version, not the new one) and I couldn't be happier. This is a completely manual lens, but if you are OK with live-view focusing, the results are just amazing.

The Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 Wide Angle Lens for Olympus 4/3 gives you an approximately 33.4deg. view--excellent for general photography and portraits. With hybrid aspherical lenses and multi-layer coating, you will produce sharply defined images with a minimum of flare and ghosting. The 35mm lens focuses as close as 1' (30.48 cm) from the lens and has a removable petal lens hood.
