About Rokinon

The Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E with geared, manual focus and aperture control rings, is optimized for digital cinematography. The aperture ring has been "de-clicked" for smooth iris pulls and depth of field markings provide an essential aid to focus pullers. Optically, this lens is identical to the Rokinon 35mm f/1.4, which is known for its excellent sharpness and contrast.

Hybrid aspherical lenses and multi-layer coating produce sharply defined images with a minimum of flare and ghosting. There is slight vignetting at T1.5 on a full-frame sensor but it is nearly gone by T2.0 and APS-C or MFT sensors will probably never see it. The 35mm lens focuses as close as 12" (30.48 cm) from the lens.

Rokinon Features

  • At T1.5 this lens is great for low light and shallow depth of field
  • The focus and aperture control rings feature industry standard gearing
  • Covers a wide range of sensor formats, including full-frame 35mm
  • 10 elements in 12 groups, including one hybrid aspherical lens
  • Minimum focusing distance of 12"
  • Depth of field markings aid in pulling focus

Questions about this item:

g h  is this lens good for nex vg900? is this full-frame lens?
kline m  Dear g h. I bought the lens for my vg20 which of course is an APS-C sensor so for me it performs as a 50mm. I have another 50 which is fully automatic but I got this lens so I could keep in touch with manual control. It is good for that and is very easy to work with because it is a large lens with clearly marked settings and great gripping surfaces. It also has the gearing should I want to use a follow focus device. On a more superficial level, the lens really adds a pro look to my little camcorder because of the large front end(77mm) the impressive markings, the gearing and the sturdy look and feel. For the price, I think it's well worth the money. I did read that for full frame sensors there may be some minor vignetting uo to T2.0 but nothing else negative. Hope this is helpful. K.M.
