The Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens is the most affordable 8mm Fisheye Lens in the market. It features the widest field of view over any other 8mm fisheye lens, and its build quality and optical construction are superb. For cameras with full-frame sensors, the lens will produce pictures with a semi-circular image and close images will appear proportionately large for a dramatic effect. LOVE THIS LENS!!

By

from Miami  -  Photographer

I love using this lens! It's lightweight and inexpensive. I use F-8 and put on 'infinity'...I DO NOT FOCUS this lens and images are super sharp! Distortion can be interestly controlled. I have recommended this lens to a few folks and they also enjoy using it. I especially enjoy using it indoors, in small rooms, for architecture interesting compositions, for autos, motorcycles, etc. I use it on a Nikon D7000.

Awesome lens, best value!

By

Want a fish-eye lens? You won't be sorry if you chose this one. Sure it's a manual lens, sure your camera won't recognize it. All you have to do is set it on f/8-11 and you're set, just adjust your shutter speed as needed. Focus is a breeze, in fact... I had a hard time NOT being in focus at f/11 (1 foot to infinity). Works well at night (astrophotography) too!!!

Good value specialty lens w/caveats

By

from flat state  -  Photo Enthusiast

The build of the lens is nice - smooth operation, nothing sloppy. The front glass makes the lens nose heavy - hardly noticeable on a 6D, but borderline awkward on a SL1. With a crop sensor, the image circle fills the frame completely. On a 6D, the image is close to a full circle, but is cropped on top and bottom - sort of the worst of both worlds. Buyers should be aware this is a fully manual lens. Focusing the lens is difficult through the eyepiece; I had better results using live view and max zoom. The printed focusing guide does not match my mental distance estimates, so I've had more soft shots of close objects than I prefer. This may not be the fault of the lens. Once in focus, the lens seems fairly sharp, especially stopped down a couple of clicks. On the SL1, I have been shooting Av with a manual adjustment of +2/3 to +1 2/3 stops for proper exposure. The camera's combination of auto ISO and shutter speed can be a little dark. The distortion is in line with expectations of a fish-eye lens. I might chose a longer focal length if I were to buy a wide lens again, but this lens has its uses and I'm learning to understand and enjoy them. I've had to think more to set up shots, and had to re-take a few, but overall I'm pleased with this lens and think it is worth the price at the time.

Love this lens!

By

from OKC, OK  -  Professional

This lens is far exceeding my expectations. Based on previous reviews praising this lower cost APS-C format fisheye, I de3cided to purchase it. I'm glad I did. I got the Nikon chipped version. It works perfectly on my D3200 and my older D60. Earlier reviews said it was tight on the bayonet, but they seemed to work that out, because it fits fine. All functions work. Being manual focus is not an issue, since it's a super wide in the first place, and it works with focus confirmation on my cameras. The images are super high quality. I use it for a virtual tour program and for regular ultra wide pics. I'm very happy with this lens.

fun lens

Very nicly made lens. Fits and functions on my D7100 and D80. The lens hood fits well but has to be oriented in one of two positions.

Don't judge a book by its cover

By

from Rio de Janeiro, RJ  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

The box isn't beautiful but the lens is amazing. Although this is a manual focus lens, it's very easy to use/focus! It's very sharp and the price is great! Very recommended!

Good value Fisheye

By

from Fremont CA  -  Hobbyist

Amazing value for low $200s. Surprized to find it was a completely manual lens thuogh. Haven't used a lens that didn't talk to the camera for along time. But not a showstopper. Worth the money.

Questions about this item:

s j  Is the Rokinon FE8M-N 8mm F3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon the same as an Pro Optic? I ask because I keep typing in Pro optic and keep getting the rokinon??/ Thanks
WAYNE A  The Rokinon is sold under a few different names. Not sure about Pro Optic? I have the Rokinon brand & optics are outstanding. The Nikon chip version works with auto-exposure, but focus is by guesstimate. Focus indicated by the electronic range-finder is incorrect.
