Picture too dark

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I set up the player using HDMI cable (best pic & best sound). I found the picture to be dark and there's no adjustment in the menu setting to lighten it.
The setup menu is fairly basic. With few exceptions, what you see is what you get. The player does seem to be reliable, no freeze ups,etc.
My advice is wait for the Panasonic DMP 50 coming out at the end of June.
