I have had two of these scopes as well as their big brother a C8 and was well satisfied by all of them. For photgraphic use a lens shade is a must.

I had two of these telescopes delivered just before Christmas. The first one had image sharpness problems. Sent it back and received another. The second one had a scratch on the 45 degree lens. Sent it back and suggest Celestron to review their quality.

I am extremely satisfied with the C5 spotting scope. I found the setup and adjustments straightforward. I ordered a 15 mm eyepiece with the scope and am very pleased with the additional magnification that it provides. Also, I have experimented with 35 mm photography using my Canon AE-1 with excellent results - better that I expected as I am not a professional. I strongly recommend the C5 to anyone interested in an excellent daylight scope for viewing and for photography, and for causual astronomical use.
