I've used it for both astronomy and land based use in a spotting scope as well as on a microscope. It allows you to attach the camera to an eyepiece and position the camera's distance to achieve good image coverage and focus. It is well made and a bit heavy so when you add a camera there is the need to be careful that everything is tight and supported and be aware that the balance off the optics has to be taken care of to avoid crashes.
