The aging process has few plusses! It has been frustrating to realise that my eyesight has been degrading these past 50 years. As a keen photographer of 30 years, I have developed a dependance upon my right eye for focus and composition. But now when looking at the stars, I find the astigmatism in that eye is too far gone to achieve good focus and comfortable viewing. I tried to 'teach' my left eye to take over, but it just wasn't working. Prescription glasses helped, but they were too cumbersome to use with any degree of comfort.
The Televue Dioptrix has fixed all that. I can now see pin-sharp stars again through my preferred eye, and the brain is able to extract the available fine detail that it seemed unable to do through the left eye.
My only criticism is not a fault of the Dioptrix, but an operational issue.... when first setting up and trying to achieve focus, if the Dioptrix is at an incorrect orientation, it can be a bit 'messy' bringing things back correctly. A small price to pay for the end improvement gained.
