Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I used this last outing to view the sun with a solar filter. It is a bit bulky and I found it hard to find a good focus point. When I did I was very happy with my views of the sun at sunrise close to the horizon. I haven't used it for planetary viewing but I would estimate it would be very good for that also. I would recommend using this eyepiece when seeing is good.
