I've used this adapter with 50mm f/1.4 lens and marveled at the results. I also have the EOS-58mm adapter and have used it with a short zoom 18-55mm lens with much success.
As always, great care must be exercised while screwing the adapter's thread into the filter thread of the lens. This is most easily accomplished by attaching the adapter to the lens prior to attaching the adapter to the camera. If the opposite is attempted, the additional weight makes assembly awkward and cross-threading may occur.
Focus can only be achieved by moving the object or the camera.
Compose the shot with the aperture wide open then stop down for the desired depth of field.
Very sturdy tripod essential and additional lighting recommended. Your on-board flash will be useless.
It does not matter which brand name lens you use as long as the filter thread marches.
