Comments about Adorama Adorama Digital Remote Release with 36" Cable for Canon EOS 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D & 40D Digital SLR Cameras (3 Pin Plug):

It worked for exactly 37 exposures, then my CANON 5D seized up and stopped working. The LCD froze, and the shutter would not fire. Once I removed this troublesome piece of junk, my Camera worked perfectly again. Don't waste your time with this. If you purchase it, you will return it. Be warned.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Digital Remote Release with 36" Cable for Canon EOS 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D & 40D Digital SLR Cameras (3 Pin Plug):

Very disappointed! I shoot thousands of images, so I use my equipment and depend on it to work. This lasted like a snowball in a hot skillet! It might be okay if you are very casual about your photography, but it was too lightweight for what I do. It lasted two trips out....probably 5,000 shots.

This release came with my Canon 50D and at first I didn't have much use for it but then I started doing night shots and it worked perfectly. I've used the Canon version and it's certainly not worth the extra $ With the money you save you can buy a case of Guinness so that's a no brainer No there are no instructions but it's not rocket science. To those who had a hard time figuring it out...you can run a microwave can't you?

I have used this remote release to minimize vibrations caused by depressing the shutter release on the camera body and to lock open the shutter for lengthy "bulb" exposures at night.

I had read some negative comments about this item but decided to try anyway as have been very happy with what Adorama sells, when received found that worked EXACTLY LIKE SUPPOSE TO, cannot figure out what all of negative comments were about as I have found nothing wrong with this and absolutely love it when used for what intended for.

The Adorama Digital Remote Release hasn’t given me any trouble. It might feel cheep and plasticy, but so does the Canon original. One of my favorite things about this unit is the mini phone jack it has built in. It’s perfect for connecting a Pocket Wizard and firing the camera remotely. And it does it without me having to buy any new cables from Pocket Wizard.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Digital Remote Release with 36" Cable for Canon EOS 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D & 40D Digital SLR Cameras (3 Pin Plug):

I didn't really get a change to really use this product since it did not work when attached to my new Canon EOS 40D. The remote release came along with a package so I can't complain. It's lightweight and simple to hook up but trying to figure out how it worked was a little difficult. I'm still trying to figure out how it works since it was able to auto focus the camera but when you press the release button, it doesn't take the photo. It would be a good product if it would function like intuition.

I am giving this four stars because you can't expect much for the cost of this thing. If your expectations are realistic, this isn't a bad product. You get what you pay for. I didn't expect anything great so I wasn't disappointed when I hooked this up to my 40D and had trouble with it at first. I wasn't aware that I would need the GI Joe Kung Fu grip to get the camera to fire. Once I figured out that I need to squeeze the trigger so hard that my fingers turn blue everything worked fine. I only need this for occasional product photography and macro work so its fine for me. I just have to remember to carry along a vice grip when I setup my shoot :)

Buy Canon brand, not Adorama
By DebbieVerified Reviewer from Raleigh, NC on 6/20/2008

Comments about Adorama Adorama Digital Remote Release with 36" Cable for Canon EOS 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D & 40D Digital SLR Cameras (3 Pin Plug):

This product NEEDS instructions and better connection to the camera.

Instructions: It took a lot of experimenting to figure out how to best make use of this product because of the lack of information. There are different places to slide the button, all which have a specific purpose and are very nice, but having information on how to use this would've been very helpful vs. me having to play with it to figure it out. There's simply too much to be assumed. I've purchased other Adorama brand items for my Canon 30D and Canon 5D and find that this is a common problem with Adorama products. What few directions are included are vague.

Connectivity issues: Doesn't 'fit' snugly into sockets well, and does NOT stay connected [the more important issue.] I am constantly turning my camera off, re-seat the plug, then turn my camera back on for this to Adorama cable release to work.

VERY annoying when you've got a shot composed, focused, etc., go to shoot, only to discover the Adorama cable release once again became disconnected [not visibly] and is no longer communicating with the camera. I missed sunrise/sunset shots because of this and finally disconnected the thing [and would've thrown it in the trashcan had I been able to locate one nearby!!!]

Don't waste your money. Buy Canon brand and save yourself a LOT of grief, which is excellent and connects fine. It is a critical product to own and makes life much easier, and photo's turn out better.

Save your $ and buy the Canon brand. I wasted $ on the Adorama brand and had to replace it with the Canon brand; night and day difference in quality.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Digital Remote Release with 36" Cable for Canon EOS 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D & 40D Digital SLR Cameras (3 Pin Plug):

This remote release is a lot less expensive than the Canon brand one. The Canon brand one seems easier and more confortable to hold and use. This one has click when pressing the button, as oppossed to the noiseless Canon one. But for the monet savings, this is a great product for my Canon 30D digital camera. The info leaves out 30D, but when I called Adorama they assurred me that it works on the 30D, and it does.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Digital Remote Release with 36" Cable for Canon EOS 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D & 40D Digital SLR Cameras (3 Pin Plug):

I have not used the Canon brand remote so I'm not sure what the differences in features or functionality are. This units funcitons fine. However, it doesn't come with any instructions or labeling what so ever. So I'm not sure about the time telay described in the product's description. There is also a sub-mini jack on the side of the remote that must do something, but who know since it's not labeled.

nice to have a cheaper alternative to the original OEM product from Canon but the cable is almost the same ridiculous "length" !!!(making you want to buy the nice extension cord for the sleek amount of $[...] !!!)
