Comments about Adorama Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS 50D, 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D & 40D SLR Digital Cameras (3 Pin):

I set up a small studio over my garage with studio type flash for portraits and product photos. I wanted the ability to shoot wireless for the freedom and the stablility of not touching the camera while shooting. The Canon solutions were $440 and up, way out of my range, and this unit filled the bill perfectly. I'm sure the Canon unit is a lot more rugged than this, but so far it has worked perfectly in light duty for six months. And using standard AAA batteries is a big plus.

I used this to take some portrait shots and it worked about half the time. It seemed like the cord wasn't creating a good connection, because sometimes I could press it in a little further and get it to work, using the shutter release on the cable. However, I couldn't get the wireless remote to work more than a third of the time. The "manual" was not helpful - could barely understand it. However, I will continue to try to work with this and see if I can learn to make it more reliable for myself.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS 50D, 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D & 40D SLR Digital Cameras (3 Pin):

I searched through all the reviews trying to decide if this was worth my money. To get to the point, yes it is. Normally I live by the mantra "You get what you pay for" but this is an Adorama product its got to be worth SOMETHING, and if not they are reliable enough of a company to refund me. But that won't be necessary. At a small fraction of the price of the Canon product, and more useful since it doesn't require line of sight, this thing is great.

My only complaint is I wish they would have had someone who speaks English fluently write the instruction manual. Living in Japan I have to deal with enough broken English and bad translations, I don't really want to deal with it from the manual of a product I brought from the States that's marketed to American consumers.

But that is a small complaint. Well worth the money especially if your just starting out, or don't see the need in paying a large amount of money for a product that won't function as well.

I received this as gift, however it was a requested one. Its a great affordable alternative to a wired trigger. The half click focus is a must and this device comes threw in that regard. believe it our not the little antenna is required, which makes the trigger a little delicate. But this is really the only draw back to the product.

I purchased the remote release to use for portrait shoots (specifically for an upcoming wedding) as well as other posed shots to reduce camera shake. It works well about 75% of the time. Chief complaints are that it turns itself off too quickly and yesterday, during a portrait sitting, it was on and still wouldn't fire.
Think it's going back and an upgrade will be purchased.

So far, I haven't used it for anything besides trying it to see how it works.

It works. I haven't tried using it from 100 feet away yet. Just walked down the hallway in the house and gave it a shot.

The instructions? Good luck. I'm not sure who translated them from Chinese to English, but it's quite a read.

The only reason why I'd return it or wish I didn't order it is in one of the modes, I'm not sure what the hell the mode is, but there are two symbols on the transmitter, a B and what looks like a G. The B mode, it appears to work fine, but in the G mode it likes to take 2 shots in a row instead of one.

Being fond of wildlife, especially flying things, I can now pre-prosition my camera close to objects that birds, butterflies, moths, etc frequent without making them nervous. Birds tend to watch where I am and ignore the camera. The range is excellent. Being plastic and light it feels flimsy but is sturdier than first realized. It could use a strap.

The product itself works great - once you can figure it out. The "instructions" it comes with are cryptic at best - they're actually more funny than helpful as you can tell it's very poorly translated. That said, you're on your own on figuring out how this baby works. Luckily, it's pretty straightforward. Once you get it working, it works like a charm.

I used the Canon RC-1 for years, but it only works if you are closer than about 15 feet and sunlight hits the sensor, it wouldn't work. This remote is much better. I went on the other side of my house with two three walls between me and the camera. The remote still triggered the shutter. I would recommend this to any photographer wanting to use a remote.

Overall, very good function. Very light weight.

Just wish the remote transmitter had an on/off switch. The receiver has one, but the remote does not. I always worried, when traveling, that the button would be pressed in my backpack and the battery would be dead when I needed to use the kit.

Had to take extra care to position it so it wouldn't be pressed. but finally gave up and pulled the battery when I packed it.

THe battery that came in the remote worked from the get go.(I had heard others say it was dead on arrival) The only issue I have had is focusing and that may be user error as I can't always get the button to press halfway before firing.

This is a great remote. As we were not allowed down front, we captured some outstanding images during our last wedding with this that had both parents of the bride in tears. My only concern about this unit is that the radio trigger contacts for the 23A battery don't seem as secure as I would like. I had to take the unit apart several times, take the battery out, and put it back in before it would communicate with the remote. Once I got it working, it did not fail. I tested it out to 75 feet and it worked flawlessly. I have no way of knowing how fresh the batteries have to be, so we are carrying two sets of triple-A's and 23A's.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS 50D, 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D & 40D SLR Digital Cameras (3 Pin):

Great range on the unit, and have not had any issues as far as picking up around corners, thru foliage, etc. I do question the durability of the unit, particularly the transmitter. Even though it would make it bulkier, I would prefer it to have a flat back, and not the ridge for the battery it currently has. That little battery door will pop off occasionally, and I must admit that it is rather annoying to put back on.

My little unit did come with the appropriate batteries, including one extra for the transmitter, which was very good considering one of the batteries was dead. Possibly caused by the fact that the button to the transmitter when pressed activates the unit. There is no "OFF" button.

Overall, a great little unit for the price even with my petty cons. I went to this after utilizing a Canon Wireless unit for my Rebel XT (I have since upgraded to a 40D), and I must say I like this unit FAR better than the Canon model. The speed and range are far superior, and the ability to fire off shots are DRAMATICALLY increased. All for around the same price.

In other words, if this is your price range, get this unit, you will be hard pressed to find a better one.

Reasonably priced remote release that works as advertised, which is to say very well. Would prefer more channels personally and the first unit I purchased had a lazy switch spring so that after use it began to become inconsistent in triggering the camera - that said, I would buy another. The Canon offering while stronger in every way is also much higher priced. Better than being tethered to the camera by a cord this unit is excellent for getting in the shot, night photography, and when taking portraits it allows you to move about and catch the shot without staring through the viewfinder. My major con is that I wish it were a bit more robust in construction. I have used this release for over a year in various application so this is not an out of the box opinion with limited experience.

I bought this primarily for hummingbird and other wildlife photography. While I have only been able to set up and use this once so far, it performed perfectly. Instead of sitting in the nearly 100 degree summer heat in an uncomfortable chair waiting (literally) hours for the hummingbirds to be enticed by my floral setup, I am now able to sit in air-conditioned comfort looking at my setup through a bay-window to trigger my camera and flash setup. I am anxious to try the remote on Turkey and Deer this fall season.

Overall very pleased with the purchase.

The only thing I'd suggest is more and better documentation. I'd never been near one of these before so I needed to be walked through from connection to use.

Have used it to take pictures from a tripod while I was using the other camera, able to get two angles. I can keep a camera on the subjects and be mobile at the same time. [...] is a pleasure to do business with, have been buying from them since 1991.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS 50D, 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D & 40D SLR Digital Cameras (3 Pin):

I have used it to take long exposure night shots, group shops that actually included me, candid family shots where everybody was caught acting naturally, telephoto and macro shots where I cannot touch the camera, and remote shots where I can monitor the subject without staring endlessly into the view finder (and can therefore use all of my vision to anticipate the shot's perfect moment). In all cases it worked perfect once the plug is seated correctly into the camera (sometimes it had to be reseated to make it work). The plug is not 100% reliable, but once seated correctly, it works flawlessly. The battery cover and overall feel is a bit flimsy, but once you realize the battery will pop out the moment the cover is bumped, you can anticipate doing the "find the battery in the grass low crawl" maneuver. It needs recessed buttons to prevent accidental dead batteries. I haven't had this problem yet, but I can easily foresee getting into the back country and unpacking my gear to find dead batteries. And yes, it will achieve the stated 100 feet of range. I agonized over spending the $[...], but now that I have used it, I have no regrets. Thanks for the increased opportunities your product gave me.

At first, I too thought that was large based on the picture of it. In fact, it is quite small.
With this, shots that would just not be possible can now be made.

At a wedding you can use a second camera and shoot from behind the minister.

For a self portrait, you have more time for set up and can take it on your time, not that of the timer

Everything you want in a remote.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS 50D, 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D & 40D SLR Digital Cameras (3 Pin):

The picture on the website makes the remote look quite large. I was happy to see how small it is. It is everything you need in a remote, it makes the camera take pictures when your arms can't reach that far. I tested it and could take pictures the full 100 feet away, that it claims. It works each time you push the button, and it appears to be well made.
