Pros:
Durable, Easy To Use, Improves Product Function, Lightweight
Cons:
None
Best Uses:
Macro Photography, Studio
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Adorama remote is an economical shutter release solution for Nikon cameras. The connection to the camera is nice snug fit. It stays put. The silver button is handy in dark studios like mine. I been using the remote for about a month. I use when I'm shooting macro to eliminate camera movement. I have had no problems with it.

It's great for macro shots because it eliminates camera shake and is especially useful when the camera is mounted upside down below the top of the tripod close to the ground.

Works with the D3
By CarlVerified Reviewer from Balt / DC Area on 5/8/2008

Easy To Use, Improves Product Function, Lightweight
Cons:
Attachment to camera
Best Uses:
Home, Portraits, Studio, Traveling

Bottom Line:

This controller behaves as I expected on my D3. As someone else mentioned: the plug does not seem to fit all the way into my camera's socket. It maybe goes in 3/4 of the way. Nonetheless, it fulfills its simple purpose, and this issue was not a deal breaker for me.

Connector not a good fit for the D300
By MikeVerified Purchaser from Half Moon Bay, CA on 3/21/2008
Pros:
It functions fine.
Cons:
Difficult to connect.
Describe Yourself:
Casual user
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I'm not sure if the plug fits properly in the D300 female. I haven't tried Nikon's to see if it is any easier. It just doesn't sem to seat all the way. The release does work, though. No complaints in that department.

Works great, great value.
By Camera GeekVerified Reviewer from Podunk, VA on 9/1/2007
Pros:
Easy To Use, Improves Product Function, Lightweight
Best Uses:
long exposures, Macro Photography, Portraits

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It's funny that a lot of the reviews say a tight fit like that's a bad thing. I guess it would be better if it were loose and came out unintentionally? Anyway I got mine today and it fits great, there are three fins that match with three grooves in the camera plug, assuring proper insertion. Works like the shutter button, gentle touch-focus, push all the way-trips shutter.

Pins too thick
By iraxVerified Reviewer from Chicago, IL on 8/9/2007
Cons:
Not Functional
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

A couple of the pins in the connector were too thick, and the remote would not fit into the socket on the camera.

Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight
Best Uses:
Macro Photography, Portraits, Studio, Traveling
Describe Yourself:

Connection to the camera is a little stiff and fidly to attach so I just leave mine on. I tether it to the camera neckstrap and because it is lightweight it is not a bother.

Lone gone are the days when you could use a 3 dollar cable release. This item works like it should. If you have a D200 you need this item. This is just as good as the Nikon release and at a much better price. When Adorama puts its name on a product, it lives up to its name.

Simple and effective
By emanuelef75Verified Reviewer from San Jose, CA on 5/21/2007
Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight
Cons:
Button a little too hard
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It's certainly a valid purchase if you don't want to go with the official Nikon's cable. The release button is a little hard to operate at first. In general I'm very satisfied and I found this to be a great accessory

Simple and easy to use. Connection into camera is a little tight and can be difficult to attach. Otherwise it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Seems to be well made differing from what other reviewers have said.

I have used it on 4 major trips for long exposures near sunrise/sunset and night shots. It works great for removing vibrations associated with a photographer touching the camera to set off the shutter.

Easy & Simple
By RandymanVerified Purchaser from Newport Beach, CA on 2/5/2007
Pros:
Easy To Use, Improves Product Function, Lightweight
Best Uses:
Best when using a tripod
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a very handy way to shoot in low light or just to make sure your shots come out focused. I use my cable all the time for real estate, night shots and groups. The cable has a nice feel while shooting and the plug fits snugly in the camera (D200) every time.
I used a wireless remote on my D70 and had some issues. The cable focuses the camera and shoots just as fast as the camera shutter release button,
Its 6 feet of length is really all you need. very simple to use. You do need to be conscious about the keeping light out of the viewfinder without touching the camera.

Pros:

I photograph real estate and I try my hardest to use the camera on a tripod without extra lighting thanks to digital. This is a great tool without any problems for hands off camera use. Its fun to use and the plug fits very snug into the camera.

Works fine but feels cheap
By JaMVerified Reviewer from Rockville, MD on 12/15/2006
Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight
Cons:
Cheap look, No users manual
Best Uses:
Landscapes, Macro

This remote works fine - as a very basic remote shutter release. Switch has two positions - prefocus - and release. It also has third position - which looks like lock. Maybe it is for continuous shooting - i did not try; and there is no users manual to explain. Remote also has some plug - looks like a headphones plug. No clue what for - but I am only beginner - so maybe it should be clear to more experienced photographer. The overall feel of remote is very cheap - thin plastic - the parts don't fit perfectly each other. For almost $[...] - I would expect more proffesional design. On the other hand it works fine as a shutter release (question is only for how long)
