I use this product anytime I have the camera on the tripod. It makes it that much less likely to move. Great for landscapes and night photography. Allows you to use a slow shutter speed without moving the camera because of your hand on the camera. Also works great for bracketing.

It's a remote shutter release. Great product and essential for long exposures and long lenses especially if you are not using VR. It works as it is supposed to but for what it costs I don't feel that it is constructed to be the most durable. Very light weight but feels as if it could break at any moment. For the price of the Nikon branded unit and it's mediocre build quality I would seriously consider an off brand alternative. Over all it does what it is supposed to and if you are willing to pay for the nikon name get it you will be happy with it. If you want to do self portraits get the ml-l3 remote control as the cord on this is only about 3 feet long.

I really like this remote. I also have the wireless remote but it isn't as reliable when standing behind my D80. I had noticed after using a cable release on my N80 that it was easier to use a wired remote because you don't have to watch were you put your hand. I can easily tell when I take a shot. The wireless version isn't as easy...

Being able to mount the camera on a tripod and use a remote is the best way to make sure there is no introduced camera shake. I've used it for taking wildlife pictures in low-light and it has really helped with getting the clear pictures I want at slow shutter speeds.

Anybody that desires sharp photos must have a remote relese system of some sort. This is a great one and its inexpensive. Having your camera on a tripod is only half of the equation - the other half is a remote release to keep you from introducing vibrations when you touch the camera release button. A must have accessory!

A much better solution than the IR wirelss remote in many cases. Provides solid shutter release. Great for long (esp. Bulb) exposures such as capturing fireworks. Works on the the D70s, too bad the D70 only supports the IR remote.

Just wanted to clear up something that was stated below. This remote release DOES work with the D70S model, as advertised. It does NOT work with the older D70 model.
The product description should have used a capital letter "S". "D70s" (with lower case "s") can easily be mistaken for the plural of D70, which I think is what happened to the reveiwer who had to return the item.

The modern day replacement for the cable release. On one hand it?s a ?must have? for releasing the shutter on a tripod, especially for long exposures. On the other hand its construction; while lightweight, has a cheap plastic ?made in China? feel. I would expect this lower level of quality from a third party manufacturer, but not the Nikon brand.
