I carry it in my pocket to have a camera handy all the time. I also have a Nikon D100, but it takes a fork lift to carry it and all the lenses to a photoshoot.

I love this camera! It lives up to prior Canon Powershot Digital Elph models... but it's uber-small and lightweight. Everyone comments how much they love my camera (and I've only had it two weeks). I take so many pictures now b/c I can take my camera with me everywhere I go. [$] Don't wait, get it now!

Each member of my immediate family own at least one Canon. My 15 year old daughter received her first Cannon PowerShot SD100 almost 10 years ago. She now is the proud owner of a Cannon PowerShot SD750 and a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XTI (she still uses her SD100 and my PowerShot SD1000)...did I mention she wants to be a professional photographer?

Proven under trying conditions

My use of this camera was on an 10 day "photo safari" on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon sponsored by the Friends of Arizona Highways non-profit. I took along two extra batteries, only one was needed. I filled one 8GB SD Memory card and one 1GB SD Memory card. Most with video of the rapids. All video images were surprisingly sharp, unless I attempted to zoom where the results were less than satisfactory. To keep the camera dry, I used a Dry Pack Camera case where I could shoot through the sides of the pack. To hold the camera reasonably steady, I used a 7.5" to 18" monopod. For still images, I used my Canon 30D.

I keep it in my pocket at when traveling for quick use. Excellent Point and Shoot - quick shutter release, a Real Viewfinder and excellent images.

Great to have when I don't want to carry my Nikon D80. Wonderful for candid shots. Its quick release, small size and real viewfinder should make it great on a ski slope. I liked it so much that I gave each of my daughters one for casual picture shooting.

The Canon SD1000 is great camera which is great for everyday use. My wife and 5 year old daughter are the primary users and love the camera. Its small size allows you to take this camera anywhere. The display is big enough to make sure you got the shot. Easy access to the advanced features allow the user to respond quickly to challenging shots or when the user would like to get creative.

The only con is control placement. Buttons are often accidentally pressed because of the small size of the camera.

Overall this is a great camera.

Everything arrived as stated, on time and packed securely.
