I purchased this camera specifically to use for an event that we had to attend. I usually use a Nikon D40 and D50 but my wife did not want me carrying around so much equipment. The camera works very well for snapshots and quick pictures. Setup time is fast - usual delay with taking the picture but if you plan and push the shutter release half way down then you can take quick shots easily. The quality of the shots is very good in most lighting. I do miss the ability to set aperature for depth of field. The screen on the back is great - large and easily configured to show the informaiton you want.
Overall I really enjoy using this camera. I keep it in my briefcase all of the time to take shots as I need them. The battery life is very good also.

I wanted a camera to take everywhere. I normally shoot with a Nikon D3 that tends to weigh me down. The SD880 is a great all-around camera and fits comfortably in a pocket. I'd recommend it for anyone. I like the ability to have a little control over my exposure, and for anyone familiar with P/S/A/M modes this camera can be mastered in about 15 minutes. Consider the SD880 over newer models for it's wider lens (28mm equivalent).

This little camera produces amazing pictures, small and compact to carry, good battery life (but not great), but is not meant for action photos. Get yourself an SLR for that. The LCD scratched the first day I got it, but my fault for not putting a protector on it. Focus is slow in my opinion, but the picture quality more than made up for it. Wish low light quality was better, but what can you expect from a point and shoot. Great camera for travel and family get togethers. Will fit in shirt pocket. Love this camera for intended uses!
