I purchased this camera as a gift for my 9 year old niece. Since the first use, it would not consistently turn on when the power button was pushed. We have sent it back. [...] Stay tuned....

Comments about Digital Concepts Digital Concepts 5.1mp Digital Point & Shoot Camera with AutoFlash, 4x Digital Zoom, 1.5" TFT Monitor, SD Card Slot:

I took this little camera on a trip to the Chesapeake Bay thinking it would be only good for family photos. I was astounded by the high quality, however, low digital noise, quick response time, vivid colors, flexible focus.

Overall, I would say that this camera is actually a great camera. I'd purchased it for my neice, but I am keeping it for myself (I'll get her a different one, no worries). Highly recommended.

The minor cons are:

1. Date/time stamp is ON by default but does not show in the LCD screen; be sure to turn it off before shooting!

2. There are a few separate modes; Photo, Video, Display, and Setup. So..the Setup Menu is its own place in the camera, meaning that to change white balance and things like that, you have to switch over to a completely different mode. A little cumbersome, but not a deal-breaker.

3. If you're taking video, there is no sound. This is a deal-breaker if you are buying this camera expecting to be able to get a lot of video. And the video is standard def only anyway.

4. Yes, it IS only 5.1 megapixels, so if you're a megapixel snob I guess that's a deal breaker. But believe me, you'll be shocked by the lack of digital noise compared to even Kodak 10 megapixel cameras I've shot with, and the 5.1 megapixels is still, what, 2560x1920 or so.

None of these cons would be deal-breakers for me. This camera, again, is HIGHLY recommended.
