Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I am a serious 35mm user (Leica M4), but have all but abandonded my film camera. The Elph is small enough to always have it along, thus I get photos I would not have been able to take. At 7MP, resolution is more than satisfactory for nearly all my needs. If I lost it tomorrow, I'd order another the following day!
