This was my first “advanced” digital camera. After weeks of online comparison shopping I settled with the FinePix S700. It was affordable and liked the 10x optical zoom in, image stabilization, the large LCD, video capture features. Pros:1. I like the ergonomics of it, everything it’s easy to reach; the camera it’s shaped so you get a very good grip on it which comes in handy while on the move. The buttons are quite intuitive and most have English text on them.2. The camera it’s indeed good taking photos in motion. I use the “Portrait” setting for still photos and the “Aperture” and “Shutter” settings for moving objects (waterfall, birds flying, my dogs playing in the yard).3. Get the Energizer Lithium batteries. They will last for about 300 pictures (at highest resolution 7MP) or about 100 pictures and three 30 seconds videos. By the way I fell in love with the video function. Very simple to use…got some great videos using with the default settings.Cons:1. I just wish it could take multiple photos faster…I guess that’s left for pricier models2. The night pictures are OK but not brilliant. Maybe it’s me. 3. The Fuji Software it’s cumbersome and not that useful in my opinion. Instead I use Picasa for albums and IrfanView (both free) to resize and batch edit my photos.Overall I’m very pleased with it after 6 months of use. I got an excellent product for the money spent. I shot thousands of pictures at the beach, zoo, parks and gardens, inside many museums, skiing in the mountains, mountain biking in the forest and even from the airplane.
