Comments about Fujifilm Fujifilm FinePix S9100 Digital Camera 9.0 Megapixel, with 10.7x Optical Zoom, & 2x Digital Zoom Lens, and 2.0" LCD:

I wanted a good all around camera with good wide to zoom capabilities without having to plunk down a bundle of money on a DSLR first time out.

The major reason for buying this camera was the fact it's one of the very few ZLR's that will support an external flash via hot shoe AND PC connector, albeit only in manual mode. However, with "instant feedback" and some practice runs, dialing in the flash is a pretty simple task. Do however check the specs on the contact voltage of the outboard flash you'll be using with this or other digital camera models as the camera itself can be damaged if it's too high. I can't recall the exact specs for the S9100, but I believe it's around 6V. I've used a Pentax AF400T with mine for quite some time now with great success.

I do have a few qualms about control layout such as the top button to set aperture and the easily confused (when looking through the viewfinder) dials that control aperture setting and 'mode' functions. They might have been arranged a bit better.

As the reviewer above noted, there is no "perfect" camera out there. We'd all own one if there was, huh? However, the size and weight are not too extreme, good mileage on a set of metal hydride batteries, zoom range, etc. made the the best choice foe me. Plenty of bang for the buck in my opinion.

Comments about Fujifilm Fujifilm FinePix S9100 Digital Camera 9.0 Megapixel, with 10.7x Optical Zoom, & 2x Digital Zoom Lens, and 2.0" LCD:

When looking for a camera, I wanted a "universal" camera that could handle a variety of tasks. The 9100 seemed like a perfect fit. And to be fair, it does a lot of what I need it to do - 640 x 480 movies, 9 mega-pixel stills, etc. However, it doesn't fit in your pocket (bulky) and it is definitely NOT a DSLR. The Canon Rebel at 6 mega-pixels blows this camera away. In hind sight, I believe I would have been better off with a Canon SD600 in the pocket for every day use and a Nikon D80 for the serious stuff. You truly cannot get everything out of one camera. This one manages to give you a lot of uses, only at a B-/C+ grade.

While taking pictures in church service, camera was loud enough that people there could hear it.This camera is the best camera I've had,I can over look the noise.I just love it,it makes taking pictures fun and enjoyable;it takes great pictures, making me look professional which I'm not.The price was just right.I wanted a camera with lens that could take pictures at wide angle and telescopic, and I got that all in one camera,to where I don't have to remove the lens.
