It's a nice camera, although it does have a quirk. Every once in a while, it'll shoot blue photos...the whole image looks like it has a blue wash over it. If we turn the camera off and back on, everything is fine.

I have taken:
1. indoor zoomed-in shots of individuals
2. family gathering indoor shots
3. outdoor scenery shots
4. close-up photos of indoor items
5. distant zoomed-in outdoor shots
I have been pleased with all of them. There were a few disappointing shots, but those were due to user shortcomings - usually when I tried some new setting I really didn't understand properly. Thank God for the "automatic focus" feature. It makes me look like a better photographer than I really am.
Another thing that I like about the camera is the feel of something substantial in my hand. I don't mean it is heavy; I just like a camera that feels like a real camera and not some credit-card-sized contraption that happens to take pictures.
As a casual photographer, I couldn't ask for much better. It makes me look good...

By the way, I am very glad I purchased the charger designed for the camera and some extra batteries. It is always good to have a backup. You can't tell by looking at the battery whether it has a charge or not and I have had to make a quick change on occasion. However, I have not had any problems with battery life, but one should always have a backup handy.
