Needed a camera to take sports pictures of my kids that would not lose arms, legs and other body parts when the kids were moving. Just using the manual settings, the D3100 works great. Been using it with volleyball, and it works great. I have clean pictures of the kids serving, spiking the ball, etc. Both lenses in the package (with the VR) work well in the sports modes. Not impressed with the video, but I really didn't buy the camera for that feature. Overall, I am really please with this camera.
