I really love this camera... seriously!

I been exposed to Nikon's for several years now and ever since my sister got her Nikon D50 SLR I was hooked.

It's so easy to use. It's great for starting out and for those who have been doing it a while. The lens is so quick and quiet! My sister was in love with both the body and lens, as am I. I love the huge display on the back as compared to other where it is on top (and not illuminated). Nikon makes it easy to get the quality pictures you want.

My only con is that with the lens, it is a lil bulky... but I feel it's well worth it.

Just getting started with a DSLR, but this camera was ready right out of the box. Better than the camera was the service. Ordered on line, price was right, no hassel, no callbacks, and it arrived as scheduled.

I use the camera to take family photos (young, impatient children). The short shutter lag and great lense combined with a low price made this DSLR the perfect choice.

Unfortunately, I had to buy another DSLR to replace my "at Nikon for repair since Nov '07 D50." Camera reviews, for what I do, have always lead me to Nikon (over Canon, Olympus, Sony, etc.) so I felt confident that the D50 problems were isolated to my camera and not a factory quality issue.

Since I'm not a professional, I decided to not buy a body with features I would never use. Also, I typically only print to 8x10 so the 6MP sensor works just fine for me. However, I have on occasion printed 16x20 with great results on the D50. I think image quality really comes down to the photographer and not the megapixels.

The inexpensive body allowed me to spend more of my budget on a lense that can be used for many years past the life of this camera body.

Nothing is ever perfect, but the combination of useful features and low price make this a great camera.
