I was worried about buying refurb, but after much research I decided to do it. When my camera and kit came, I was ecstatic. There is nothing wrong with it at all. There aren't even signs of wear or use. The camera is amazing, and the swivel LCD with HD video capability just put the D5000 over the edge for me. Great camera for beginners, or the more advanced photographer.
