The combination of the D7000 and 28-300mm is heads and shoulders over the D80 and 18-200. I was concerned over the weight but after using it there was no problem at all. The picture quality hand held is just great. I could not be happier. I ordered this on November 22nd and received it February 3rd, but now that I have it the wait was well worth it. Just Buy IT - You will love it!!

I ordered this lens with the kit package with the Nikon D7000. [...] I've been using this 28-300mm lens on my D40 and it blows my old Nikon 18-200mm lens out of the water. Reaches way out that extra distance to get birds, animals, and dolphins out off the beach. That extra 100mm makes a difference in my book. (I sold my 18-200mm lens). I can't wait to put this lens on my D7000 [...]
