I had to stop carrying my Nikon D200 because of the weight load on my old, arthritic body. The GH2 has allowed me to start carrying an interchangeable lens camera again. I particularly like the ability to change aspect ratios with very little loss due to cropping. 4:3 is 16 MP, 3:2 is 15 MP, 16:9 is 14 MP and 1:1 is 12 MP.

I use this to film weddings, I got a few fd lenses and an adapter... better glass makes this camera shine!! video is great with little or no noise even at ISO 3200!
Great cam

I snagged this gem when Adorama had a small inventory in stock for a few minutes. I'm very cautious about spending because I want a solid product with longevity that can be used professionally.
Hence, I read a lot of reviews and assessed every nuance before considering purchase. Thus, in 2010 I looked at several camcorders and there was always something not perfect enough to procure. I was even skeptical about the GH2, because I can't fathom what reviews are real and which ones are moles (manufacturers' reviews).
Well, I jumped in and I'm no mole, but gotta tell you, the GH2 lives up to the hype. Sure, there will be fussy reviewers who gripe about things, and there are some small irrelevant caveats, but overall the GH2 is "there."
Yes, the 14-42 lens is somewhat noisy and not picture perfect, but it's more than adequate. I wouldn't call it junk, although others will, but I don't care. I can work with this "junk" lens and profit from it. Of course, I have other lenses and will perhaps build a collection.
The sound is stellar, and works well with external mics without dual-audio. Stabilization is good. You can handhold this thing and shoot video, or use your existing mono- or tripod. You don't need expensive and bulky Philip Bloom systems that'll turn the GH2 into Iron Man, unless you're doing a Hollywood movie.
The GH2 has features galore. I read and refer to the manual often. There's so much in this small body, it's hard to assimilate all it can do in one sitting. It took me a week to get started.
In conclusion, the GH2 is a very good product, even with its first firmware. It will be relevant years beyond its obsolescence, and Panasonic would be crazy to supersede it before 18 months.
I also want to give Adorama a thumbs up. I'm a returning customer, so Adorama is now the first place I look at.
