A Pentax owner since the Original Is*D,my previous model was a K-10 D. I didn't purchase the K-20 because I didn't see enough of an advance. The K-7 is greatly improved. Much Faster Focus, More accurate Exposure. The CMOS and new processor give better low light photos than the CCd. Each model has a thicker owners manual chocked with the "features of the moment". Some like the built in level, ability to modify Metadata are well recieved.
Other features like Auto ISO and the constantly on (Default) LCD with information were more of a disturbance that could be turned off in the custom function mode.
The learning curve from previous Pentax Digital SLR's is small. Except for the placements of a few of the buttons it was the same as previous models. I have already made 16 x 20 photos from images cropped in half with excelent results.
Aside from the improved image quality my favorite feature of the K7 is the return to a Smaller & Lighter body. The only negative I have found so far is the need to go through the menus to turn off the shake reduction.
