I'm no expert, but my lens had no issues with darkness in the corners. Image was sharp with a little barrel distortion.

Bought this lens as part of a kit with the Canon HG10.Took a few weeks to arrive. Took it home and screwed it on the camera. The lens is well build in a metal barrel and real glass lenses. However my disappointment was big to when I noticed that the lower and top right corner were black! I checked if I had mounted the lens correctly. Witch I had. The only way I could get rid of the vignetting was to zoom in for quite a bit. Defeating most of the gain I put this lens on in the first place....Barrel distortion is present but expected for the price paid for this converter lens.[...]
