I have a Nikon D200 camera and shoot in NEF-Raw format. The camera came with a 2GB Extreme III card and holds 120 shots in this format. I wanted more cards of 1GB in size because running out of room on a card when there is more to shoot or having a 2GB card go bad can be heart wrenching (nothing lasts forever). [...] These cards are easy to use and are not flimsy. Formatting them with the D200 is quick and easy as well.

SanDisk has the faster Extreme IV disks now, but the Extreme III cards have always served my purposes well. The rescue pro program to salvage images that have been lost (usually due to human error -- I would be that human) works well (much to my delight.) I choose to shoot with the smaller cards 1-2GB rather than the huge ones because I'd rather not have too many eggs in one basket. I'm delighted SanDisk has dropped the price on these recently. I'm sure I'll be buying a couple more soon.

I have 2 Extreme III CF cards, and have been using them for about a year and a half. I have never been disappointed by this product. I frequently shoot in burst mode, and never had to worry about the card's abbility to keep up with my camera (KM Maxxum 7D). I once dropped the camera on a concrete floor, and the impact ejected the card nearly 3 feet. The card was in perfect shape, and continues to perform as it did when brand new. The camera needed some surgery though.

There is one thing you can never have enough of when you're doing a photo shoot: space on your media card. Many professionals still carry around multiple small cards, or just one small card, and either have to fiddle around with cards, or just run out of room at the crucial moment.
I recommend SanDisk Extreme III series cards because not only do they come in large sizes, but they are very fast to download from (no one wants to wait an hour for 1GB or more of pictures to dump to their computer).

When I went to get another 1GB card for use with my Rebel XT, I decided that it was time I tried moving up from the SanDisk Ultra II and experiment with the Extreme III. The decision was made even easier by the low difference in cost. I got it and I could not be happier. The extra write speed is helpful, but where I really appreciate this card is when I'm pulling all of the data off the card after a shoot.

Using Extreme III 1-Gig cards in my D1Xs with the larger buffer allows me to shot almost non-stop, suffering practically no periods of lag due to a full buffer -- a major asset when shooting fast-moving aircraft, as I frequently must. Transfer speeds to my PC are equally faster than before. Highly recommended -- and a steal at these prices.

I bought one of these CF cards when they first came out: they are so fast downloading to my computer that I can't detect any lag what so ever; bam, and it is a done thing.
