Comments about Nikon Nikon 16mm f/2.8D AF Fisheye-Nikkor Lens with Hood & Set of 39mm Filters - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:

This is a very nice, super-compact fisheye. My only complaint is that it is an old lens and thus does not have instant manual override of the autofocus system available on the newer lenses. You have to switch the camera to manual focus to use manual focus which is a pain. (I use a D700). Lack of IS is not a problem and keeps it very small and compact. It is even smaller than my 8mm Zuiko fisheye for my Oly E-3. I use the lens for anything that catches my eye as being a good subject for the fisheye and have some stunning shots with it.

I have the 10.5 FE which I purchased while using a D2X. Now I have two D3 bodies and it was just time to change to the new sensor-correct glass. Expensive? Frustrating?.....Yeah, maybe! But I am continually updating everything else, so why not the glass too?

I have been more than pleased with the 10.5mm and the 16mm has proven, thus far, to match that standard.

VR Panoramas in full frame

Comments about Nikon Nikon 16mm f/2.8D AF Fisheye-Nikkor Lens with Hood & Set of 39mm Filters - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:

This lens will make fine sperical panoramas using full frame format (D700 Nikon) using six shots around the compass tiled downward 15 degrees and one shot straight up. The results are startling when stitched with PTGui or AutopanoPro. It is very small and light. A panoramic tripod head is highly desirable but very nice "memories" can be created. The lens is so small it fits under the camera with a 50mm lens attched in a holster case. The photograph shows a composite made from a section of a shperical panorama with balloons added in PhotoShop. This allowed a complete "re-composition" using the ability to rotate in azimuth/eleveation and zoom in/out in the spherical panorama viewer. Almost as good as another photo-session.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 16mm f/2.8D AF Fisheye-Nikkor Lens with Hood & Set of 39mm Filters - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:

One of Nikon's best kept secrets is the outstanding quality of this lens. It is so small and light weight (same size as a standard 52mm) 11.0 oz. for an f/2.8 lens! Comes with all the filters you will ever need! I was so excited the first day I got it that I shot 100 rolls of Kodak HD film (360) pictures, every picture was bright, clear, awesome color and contrast. I even shot 3 rolls at 8 frames per second and not one picture had any blur! Amazing design that can't be beat at lenses costing over $3500.00. I guess that's why Nikon has it's great reputation for so long. Buy this lens and take it to a car show to take interior photos with one shot, your friends will be blown away just like mine were when I showed them.
