Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

Before I got this I was skeptical on whether I will be able to use it properly on my D40 as autofocus does'nt work. I was planning of returning it back if I wasnt able to use it. This is my first prime lens and compared to the 55-300 and 18-55 doing manual focus on this glass is very easy. I took some fabulous shots on the very first day and im satisfied with the output and the ease of use. After a few shots I realised that i have unknowingly started walking to frame my shots properly. You get a good control over the DOF and this is give you a better output just by composing the shots properly. I would even recommend it for enemies :)

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

Wicked-fast auto-focus. Puts my stock 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 to shame. Capable of outstanding bokeh. Great lens for the enthusiast trying to explore with a smaller budget. The difference between the stock lenses and the f/1.8 is night and day.

Word to the wise, this will force you to practice Depth of Field control as it is astounding. At wide open and minimum focal distance (1.5 ft.), the DOF is only .02 ft.

I could go on and on about this lens, but let me be brief. In addition to the pros already listed, this prime lens forces the photographer/user to create better angles, better distances/depths, better concepts. The quality of this lens is hard to beat, it performs to perfection. The price point is great too.

I got this lens on D80 D200 and d300 , works perfect precise auto focus easily blur the background and that aperture gives you lots of options. At day time using large aperture comes very easy using some density filters.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

This is an excellent lens if you don't have a lot of money to spend or just looking to have a light, economical lens to have around at any given moment. The only drawback is that on a Nikon D40, you lose auto-focus, but that's about the only negative. Good bang for your buck!

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

I just bought this lens after getting a D90 refurbished body, I decided to keep it consistent and bought the refurbished 50mm 1.8D as well. I have only taken about 50 or 60 shots so far but it is so easy to use. It produces great bokeh. I figure that being a prime will make me focus on framing and learn the camera a little better before deciding which lens to purchase next.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

I purchased this lens because I heard it's wonderful for low-light situations and hey,it's really inexpensive! The most important thing to note however is that it does NOT have automatic focus on the D40x and I've heard it is like that with other cameras as well.It felt a little weird to have to constantly focus at first, but once I really got used to it, I loved it and it worked just fine. I got some great pictures with it when I used it for a low-light gathering.

This lens is light and compact and is great for traveling, especially in cities. This lens is going to spend a lot of time on my camera.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

An excellent value lens. I got this lens to use on the my DSLR's. I use it on a Nikon D40,D90,D300,D700 and D3. It's very light and compact. It works perfectly with CPU cameras. It functions as a 75mm lens on DX format cameras. It's very fast auto focusing. I manually focus it most of the time for the work I do. It works well on my old Nikon FM2 35mm manual film camera as well. I got it as an inexpensive alternative to the manual focus Nikon 50mm f/1.2 lens I have used for years. The f1.2 lens is a great lens with excellent color and superior bokeh and a heavy robust build. I still use it a lot. This ultra light f1.8 lens is no slouch in the optics department and works with the Nikon DSLR's automated focusing and metering systems. This lens has a very sharp focus and image and works well in low light. You can gain small incremental improvement in low light performance with the Nikon f/1.4 and f1.2 lenses. Those lenses are better for some applications. This f/1.8 lens is a great value and compares favorably to the more expensive Nikon 50mm lenses. It has a slighly wider depth of field than the f/1.2, f1.4 50mm lenses and that can be in advantage when you want more of a subject in focus.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

Don't listen to those who say that this is cheaply constructed! The only thing that feels cheap about this lens is the F-stop ring, which stays locked firmly in place for 99% of users. Although it looks funny on my d200 with battery grip, this thing produces extremely sharp images. I originally bought it as a throw-away to get used to prime lenses, but realized I made a good purchase within 5 minutes of using this thing. Very fast, focus is dead-on, tons of DOF freedom. Best of all, if you drop it/lose it you don't have to shoot yourself over it :-P

Just buy it!

Amazing Lens for the price. Sharpest around 3.5. Gets a little soft at 1.8 and construction is very cheap plastic. Has decent Bokeh. Overall this lens is absolutely amazing for the price tag. Don't expect this as a go-to lens, it's best applications are going to be for group shots or full body shots in low light. For other portraits or Head and shoulder go for the 85mm 1.8d.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Gray Market:

This is a real nice little lens for the price. I use it on my D-50. This lens takes very clear pictures and the auto focus works well. It is not a zoom lens, so you have to move around a little to frame your shots. The lens does well in low light situations and does well with the onboard flash of the D50 (I don't have to drag out my speedlight for every low light shot).

This is a fun, lightweight and reasonably priced lens. I would think everybody would want one of these in their bag.
