I own the tamron lens 18-200 for my Nikon cameras. I also have a tamron 70-250 Since I got it I rarely use any other lens. This lens is great! It is great for regular shooting or close ups and you don't have to stop to change the lens. My husband & I own a DJ business, and I take pictures of all of our events for the customer and make DVD's for them. Mostly weddings. This lens is great when something happens at another part of the room and you need to quickly zoom in to take the picture. It focus' fast and accurate. I have no regrets on the purchase. It saves me time of changing the lens to another for close-ups, which by that time what is happening I would normally have to miss. I would recommend this to anyone, whether a pro or if you do photography as a hobby.

I use it with Nikon D90 - works well for most situations - great lens for all situations. Some times when LiveView LCD is used, it can not focus and hangs at infinity. I need to change the zoom and move the focus ring to help it focus. Works well with viewfinder.

Picture is not as sharp as a 50 mm prime nikon but then i did not expect it to be.

I have had this Lens about 6 Months. I use it with my D200 and my D80. Well I have to admit that I did not have the funds to purchase the Nikon lens at the time but I am disapointed with either lens.( The Tamron and the Nikon Lens) I purchase both but at different times. So I would suggest that a consumer use what works for him or her.

I purchased this lens because the two Nikon lenses I own have "issues." One (18-135mm) constantly freezes up and the other (18 -70mm) has a weak casing. They both take good pictures, but I wanted a lens I could count on to work when I needed it to. I haven't had this lens long enough yet to say if it's better or not.
