Really just a fantastic lens. For the price, which was a major consideration for giving the 5 stars, it just doesn't get any better. The enormous length of 18-250 gives you a wide angle approaching "fish eye" category, and an extreme zoom as well, without having to change lenses, wasting time and exposing the precious insides of the camera. Tamron is really leaps and bounds above Sigma and other "third party" brands. The only cons I can list, which basically can't be helped is the lens creep if you're pointing down at a sharp angle, and if I had everything my way, I'd build the lock on this camera so it can lock at any length, not just all the way in at 18mm. Although I've photographed at a friend's outdoor wedding and a few other events with this lens, I use this lens mostly for filming on a Canon 7d.A few examples for you below.[@]

Comments about Tamron Tamron 18 - 250mm f/3.5-f/6.3 XR DI-II LD Aspherical (IF) AF Zoom Lens with Macro, f/Canon EOS Digital SLRs - U.S.A. Warranty:

I got the lens used but as good as new cosmetically (E+). I do not expect a sharp performer from this lens before I order it, primarily because it is an all-in-one and almost all reviews say about its main advantage being portability but not opticality. In particular, I have tried a Tamron 18-270 VC before and it was not a satisfactory experience. Well, for the price, I purchased it and soon after I took a few pictures I know I have gotten a good copy. When focused well, the images are sharp, comparably with Canon 70-300mm IS. The Bokeh is nice too, although not as nice as Canon. Of course, just like any other telescope lenses at this price range, the images might be softer at the extreme ends but I found it is acceptable. On the down side, for those people that do not have perfect steady hand, I would not suggest it be used in low light. Lens creeps. Focus is a bit slower. One time (so far), I did experience the lens can not focus.Dispite of those negative aspects, I am still happy with its performance. I have been hunting for good all-in-one lens for a while and it finally comes to a rest. [...]

My biggest issue in the field is the need to keep changing from short to long lenses. Its inconvenient and exposes the camera to dust etc. during the change. With this lens I can focus from about 8 inches to infinity and take in all the varied types of pictures I wish in the field. I'm not a pro or even contemplating such a thing. Just a guy who goes to the field frequently and likes to take pictures of everything to small wildflowers to birds. This lens does all that I ask it to. From now on my long Cannon lens will be in the truck and only brought out for very specialized uses.
