I really like this lens. It has sturdy construction and heft. I use this lens for indoor photography and landscape photography. I find it to be totally sharp throughout the image. With the 2.8 aperture it works really well in low light. I am a professional photographer and I use Tokina lenses exclusively. The only negative thing I have to say is that this lens has a slow focus but with landscape photography AF is really not a factor. You can not go wrong with this lens

Quality glass for a great priceIf you're looking for a wide angle DX; look no further. If you're one of the folks who's camera is not compatible with the auto-focus for this lens; don't worry. It's a wide-angle lens so there really isn't much to manually focusing it on the fly.Tiffen filter: I don't really use it much since you can't mount a lens cap when it's on. This isn't the type of lens that I keep mounted for long periods of time so it really is a pain to remove and stow a filter just so I can cap and bag it.Lens cleaning kit: Worthless... the cloth nearly disintegrated on one of my polarizers. After that experience I'm apprehensive about using anything that was included in the set. I knew that it would cheap but I had no idea that it would be that horrible.[...]

This is one of the best lenses currently being manufactured for digital APS size sensors. It is sharp, sharp, sharp! Tokina has also managed good color fidelity, excellent contrast. Tests on this lens (and my own photos) show much less rectilinear distortion than is typical for ultrawide zoom designs. The manual focus is not by any means an afterthought--long, smooth focusing helix with good tactile feedback. The lens is built like a tank! Metal barrel--solid and very rugged. Need I say more? Oh yes! It's also the fastest zoom available in this range, and quite sharp at f/2.8 in the center of the image. At f/4, the edges catch-up, but this is not a problem because my subject is seldom at the edges.
For years I procrastinated about buying a lens strictly for a digital APS C rig---in the ultrawide range. But I can't complain about this lens--it's every bit as good as lenses that sell for twice the price, and the construction--in my opinion--is better than native optics for my Canon.
Do not be swayed by buyers with bad karma!

Great lens! Only problem is that mine, and many others, have serious AF problems out of the box. These lenses are often defective. Make sure you test it thoruoghly during the return period. Once mine was fixed by [...] it was fantastic; originally it was all but useless.
