I use this with the Canon 20D, 70-200mm f4L IS, and flashpoint 2560 monopod. Sometimes with the canon 1.4x II TC as well. I mount so the "toe" points forward when using just the 20D and 70-200 f4, and flip the ring backwards when using the 1.4x II TC.
Works great at keeping the camera balanced on the monopod and allows for camera rotation for portrait shots.
The contstruction is all metal with a plastic insert to keep from scratching the lens.
The big issue is value. Almost identical products are available for a tenth as much.

Fits the lens perfectly and helps to keep things steady especially when using an extender.
