I took My camera to many camera shops and couldn't find a cap that would fit, even other 52 mm caps didn't have enough clearance on the inside to be able to grip the threads and secure itself to the camera, If it's made by Nikon,(their name is on it), I think they dropped the ball. I had to buy one of those cords with the sticky patch on it and stick it to the front of the cap and then hook it to the strap on the camera...but at least I have a cap again.

Recessed finger grips are a big improvement to keep the lens cap in place compared to rim release which allowed the cap to be easily knocked off
