Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
Shields the lens from extraneous light interference, protects against bumps/knocks.
The hood screws into the filter threads--and does not allow for use of a filter unless connected outside of a double-threaded filter. For that reason, I barely use the thing, as I prefer to keep a UV filter on the lens.

Great cheap lens hood! I shot a concert on video in blazing afternoon sun, this hood came in handy. I watched other video/photographers wrapping cardboard around there lens because the had no hood. Sad, they should of checked out Adorama, lol!
Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
It screws on easily, it looks good and hopefully does it's job .. but you can no longer use the lens cap .. it fits in but will not stay secured. Luckily I invested in a hood hat and it works fine ... it also make the lens a lot more bulky. So best to store it with the hood off. With it's low price though, I would recommend it.

I'm thinking about returning this lens hood. I feel it will break after a couple of uses.

I like this one better than the canon one. This screws on the lens threads as opposed to the canon clip on one. Only bad thing is it cant flip back, it must be taken on and off before going back in the camera case.

got this for the canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and it works great, hasn't left the lens since i put it on.
Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
The product was very durable and usable--may not be really necessary for a 50mm except truly outdoors. There is no way to store it other than carry it with accessories, but it will only be used lightly so it will last forever.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
Hood won't store backwards on the lens like other lens hoods, and the lens cap won't stay in place with the hood on, so the hood has to be unscrewed off whenever you don't want to use it. Poor design & wouldn't have purchased it if I had known that. I emailed Adorama about making an exchange for a Canon lens cap and the only response was that i could return it. I was surprised, because everything else about the transaction was very positive.

This nifty little hood is much easier to use than Canon's over-engineered first-party hood. It screws on, it screws off. No instructions needed!
Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
Wish I could use my lens cap while it's attached, and it scratches very easily, but I like the fact that it screws on and stays on securely. Overall, it does what it's supposed to do.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
The inside of the Lens Hood scratches easily. Just taking the lens cap on and off scratches the inside of the hood. Other than that I am satisfied with the product. I would recommend spending the couple extra dollars for the Canon lens hood.

The build is as good if not better than the Canon hood at about half the price.

While it does work well and is very durable (dropped mine onto asphalt with the lens attached :( ) it does make manual focusing a bit hard
Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon with Hood Adapter for EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens (ES-62):
I mainly use this camera in poor lighting situations--mainly indoors like houses or museums--where there is poor lighting or no flash is allowed. The hood allows me take pictures without worrying about light coming in from the sides from sources like lamps, spotlights, televisions, etc. It works well. The only problem is that it is hard to screw in plus you cannot use the lens cap when it is installed--I have to take out the hood when storing the lens unlike my other hoods for the other lenses.
It does the job though but be prepared for the extra hassle.
Also, no need to buy Canon-branded lens hoods as these do the same thing for half the price...

The brand name hood connects like a lens cap, this one attaches with threads to the lens/filter and stays on more securely
