What a great replacement for the $30 Canon hood. I was going to order the Canon hood but Adorama had it on back order. So I chose theirs and wow my pro-photographer roommate could not belive the quality nor could I. It was sturdy and looked every bit like the Canon hood. I would recommend this hood to everyone. At the end of the day a hood is to reduce lens flare and this does just that at half the price. Thanks ADORAMA!!!
Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 (ES-71-II):
the hood i recieved didnt have the flocking that some have gotten, not a bad thing tho. this hood does whats its supposed to do, block light. its a bit snug, but does go on and off of the lens easily. for the price its great, it blocks light, and procects the front of the lens.

Works out well, fits great on the lens. For the canon 50mm 1.4 this hood is a must!

I have a Canon Hood for the 105mm macro. I needed one for the 50mm, and decided to get this one to try. It looks as good as the Canon brand. Well built and does not look cheap. It is perfect. I see no reason to spend more to have the Canon name on it.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 (ES-71-II):
Beware! This item doesn't has the interior flock like one of the reviewer said (at least for the one I received), it's just made by cheap plastic and the build is not-so-good, I can still see light pass through the space between lens and the hood when I mount it to the lens. This one is nothing better than those lens hood sold on Ebay.(what can be worse?) I returned this item immediately and got a canon's ES-71-II, [...]. So my advice is, buy a Canon's ES-71-II, or get it from Ebay.

Just as good as the Canon brand but cheaper. Can't beat that.

Good price. I would get a Canon product instead of 3rd party product
Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 (ES-71-II):
This is a perfect alternative to the Canon. It has the same flocking on the interior, same shape, same everything. The only difference is that it says "for Canon" rather than just "Canon"
Save yourself $10 and buy this hood. If and when I buy another non-L lens I'll buy the Adorama hood for it.....It's a no brainer people, unless you just like to throw away your money.

I bought this hood - knowing I was taking a chance on the quality and fit. This hood fits precisely. Perfect fit - in fact. Well manufactured w/xlnt factory tolerences intact.
It is a little thin on the main body of the hood - but so is the Canon hood.
Why spend more than you must to get the job done? Inprovement to contrast with my 50mmf/1.4. Hood also helped keep the raindrops off of the lens - too. I can't tell the difference from the Canon hood or the Adorama unit. You won't be able to tell either. Same-same - for less.
This isn't brain surgery - if you have a 50mm and you don't have a hood yet - buy this one. Put ten dollars back in your pocket with the money you save from buying this hood - rather than the Canon hood - and take better pictures by using a hood. Bottom line!
