For only [$], you can't go wrong with this. I've used this on my 18-55 XT kit lens for landscape shots and I no longer have the problem of too much contrast from the side. It's easy to attach and can be reversed on the lens for better packing in your bag.

Doesn't fit my Canon 18-55IS very well. Just barley fits into the groves. I'm afraid it will fall off especially if I bump into something...maybe a bad copy. [...]

The hood locks on thigt in both positions. Seems to be made solid and it basically serves it purpose.

I bought this lens hood for my EF-S 18-55 IS. It fits perfectly. Since the 18-55 is a wide lens the hood is short, but this is fine because I bought it mostly for protecting the front element in case it was set down on something.

This lens hood works well, but it makes it very difficult to install and remove the lens cover. I find myself accidentally touching the lens when this shade is on. This is actually more an issue with the lens and cover design than with the lens hood. However, the combination is a bit of a problem.

The lens hood works as it should, but be aware that it will make using a polarizer very difficult. It fits very snug, but so much that it would break unless you're careless with it. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Read how a lot of people use the hoods to help with their photos and to help protect their lenses. The prices shocked me; then I ran into Adorama, their prices and service, and I was sold.

Just a regular lens hood. Fits and works well with the Canon 18-55IS lens that comes with teh XSi or the T1i. Helpful when you have a light source coming from the sides, i.e. outdoors. But its most useful as a protector for the lens.

I had higher expectations for this lens hood. I have found that it is quite easy to get lens flare with my 18-55mm lens. I had expected that a lens hood would help this issue, however, I experienced nearly the same amount of lens flare with the hood on as I did with it off. It was a bit disappointing.

I bought this partly to protect my lens and to avoid stray light from hitting the lens when I take photos. This hood does that at half the price of the Canon-branded lens hood. It keeps stray light away from street lamps, for example, and it has helped me get better shots. I can focus on composing more and not worry about my position vis-a-vis nearby light sources. It does have its limitations though but it could not be avoided when I was taking shots of a waterfall with the sun setting on my side.
This is a very good buy. Instead of getting a UV filter to protect your lens, get a lens hood for the extra benefit...

I needed a lens shade for my new Canon lenses -- locally they didn't have the Canon brand in stock, and I bought a rubber collapsible shade that fit the threads on the lens -- but found out the shade vignetted when fully extended (but OK when kept pretty flat). I ordered the Adorama version at a good price and I'm pleased with the performance and the quality. Now to find something in the same diameter for the longer Canon 55-250 mm telephoto lens

It would be nice if it was longer....but if it was it would cut into the picture area.
So this is as good as it gets.
