Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

Purchased as an add-on, this hood has a nice tight fit, and feels solid enough to be used in the field, yet flexible enough not to break if you bump it aginst something. I won't shoot without it. It is hard to find pro quality pieces like this at such a great price. Buy it, you will not be dissapointed!

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

I wasn't sure how sturdy this lens hood would be but I was pleasantly surprised. I am glad I chose this hood over the more expensive Canon version. I have not noticed the alignment issues that some others have commented about. Would recommend to my friends.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

Very pleased with item. I see no need to pay the big money for the Canon version. The hood fits great, and it stores in the backwards position as well. Only con is plastic is a little cheap but it's not a deal breaker for me. I would almost bet the Canon version is the same material.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

Fits perfectly and does the job for less $$$. Only complaint is that the inside surface does not have a non-reflective surface. I don't know that this will ever be a problem, but some of my other lens hoods do.

This product simply does the job and does it well. I started using it on a bright sunny day, shooting a football game. My photographs came out great while my husbands had a hazy cast to his photographs, I had the lens hood his didn't. Good test, we both have the same kind of camera.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

This is the ONLY shape of hood to use if the front end doesn't rotate. Writers, (even big name blogger ones, and recently!, -believe it or not), who eschew their use just highlight their own ign-..., -er shortsightedness.

Adorama has them in a wide array, and they are worth every nickel.

The only puzzling part is that they cost fully a 1/x fraction, (the bottom half of which is in the 2-5 range), of the factory thingies, which have no conceivable notoriety other than being absent in the lens' box where it should be!!!

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

My Canon 50D is packed and ready for action. Whether it's a little league game or a night at a concert, the camera is there. Inevitably, there's a great shot reduced to rubbish by lens flare when you don't have a hood in place.

The Adorama-branded lens hood is every bit the product the Canon-branded hood is. Save a few bucks, save your lens. Save your photos.

Accessories are big business. Save where you can without sacrificing quality at Adorama.

Worrying about name brands makes my friends spend $20k+ on a Harley, while I ride side-by-side with them on a $9k Kawasaki.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

This lens hood seems proportioned comparably to the Canon product and works just as well, though it costs less. You can reverse mount it on the lens for when you store the camera and lens, and then quickly reverse when its time to shoot. And like all other lens hoods, it provides an additional degree of protection for the lens from accidental bumps to the lens.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

$10 cheaper than the Canon brand lens hood. Really used for protection because stray light is not so much of a problem on 1.6 crop body. It fits slightly off-center, so on a full frame, that would be problematic. Otherwise, don't waste the extra $10 on the Canon, this one does just fine.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

I see absolutely no point in buying the Canon lens hood when these knockoffs are so cheep. The only drawback is that the petal isn't quite square with the frame. It's off by a couple of degrees. Really it's just a cosmetic complaint, and this problem may be present with the Canon hoods. I'll never know, because I'm happy enough with the knock off version.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-135 IS Lens (EW-78B-II):

The Adorama lens hood is fairly flimsy, it can easily bend under the slightest pressure when it is not mounted to the lens, this is something I never noticed with the Canon version. I would assume that the material to make it is slightly thinner than the Canon version. When mounted to the lens the hood is no longer flimsy; however, mounting it to the lens is not the easiest task. Mounting took me a few moments, there is not a red dot or any kind of marker to match up with the lens. Not only that but the hood fits very snuggly to the lens, this is both good and bad. Fitting snuggly should be a plus since the Canon version seemed to have a nasty habit of getting accidentally knocked off, but the down side is that is may take you longer to put the hood on/off. That probably won't phase many people, including me, but I am just pointing it out.
