Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon 16-35mm, 20-35mm, 17-35mm, 17-40mm & 10-22mm Lenses (EW-83E):
After reading other reviews I knew not to expect too much from these knockoff lens hoods. I don't mind that it's plastic, it just needs to do three things: attach easily, stay put, detach easily. It needs to do these things in both shooting mode and storage mode. After some tweaking, it does do these things well. The tweaking consisted of shaving off excess plastic left over from the moulding process. Once I did that (if you're patient and handy it should take you 15-30 minutes), this item works fine. I also ordered the similar generic hoods for my Canon 70-300 and my 28-105. My experience with the 70-300 hood is similar to above. The Hood for the 28-105, however, couldn't be made to work properly. Recommended if you are willing to save money in exchange for a little effort. I should also add that, of course it's going to be rather large. This is because the lens is a wide angle and it needs to be larger in order to do it's job on that kind of lens. The large size is not a good reason to rate this down. It's not a defect or design flaw, it's a matter of physics and geometry...

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon 16-35mm, 20-35mm, 17-35mm, 17-40mm & 10-22mm Lenses (EW-83E):
This hood lacks the light-absorbing inner felt that the Canon hoods have. Construction quality is a little lacking as the latches on the mount don't fit snugly. For the price, I would get the Canon instead.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon 16-35mm, 20-35mm, 17-35mm, 17-40mm & 10-22mm Lenses (EW-83E):
I bought this hood figuring it would be as good as the Canon one. I compared it to the Canon hood that came with my 24-70 and the Canon one has this nice interior felt to cut down on glare from the hood interior bouncing into the lens. I dunno how much a diff this makes but wish I had bought the canon hood.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Canon 16-35mm, 20-35mm, 17-35mm, 17-40mm & 10-22mm Lenses (EW-83E):
On the positive side, this hood's shape is essentially identical to Canon's EW-83E hood so for the most part, it looks and functions identically. However, it's missing the finer touches. It doesn't have the fuzzy velvety coating on the inside; instead it's just a matt black surface. The labeling on the outside is a bit sloppy; in other words, the silver paint used to print the letters is uneven and bleeds beyond the edges of the lettering. Finally, the molded plastic (or the mold that was used) just isn't as precise; it has tiny deformities that causes me to occasionally fiddle with it before it locks correctly onto my lens.Bottom line: It does the job, but if I were to purchase again, I would instead buy the genuine Canon hood for [$] more.

Took a chance to buy this instead of the Canon hood. I was right! Xlnt fit & engineering present.
Hood gets in the way a bit - but it also comes off with a quarter turn cleanly. My 10-22mm needs all the help it can get too keep lens flare to a minimum. It's a MUST for that lens...
So save twelve bucks - unless you are just stuck on the idea that it should be Genuine Canon. You would be wrong and twelve dollars poorer...
Shame on Canon for not supplying this hood when you purchased the lens in the first place. Adorama gives you a break - take it!
