Great lens hood. I wish I had ordered it sooner as it would have helped with some sun spots on a few pictures I took in DC. It fits the Nikon 18-70 lens well and does its job.
My D200 flipped out of my pack as I was running across the steet. the Hood took the brunt of the hit. IT saved my lens and my camera. Put it on leave it on.

Can't live w/o this lens hood when outside shooting in bright light. Also protects the lens.
My original was lost and I was never so happy that it was just a few bucks to replace which in long long run will add life to my lens.
Once you feel the hood click and lock with the lens i do not see how you can "knock" it off. It seems to be very firmly attached.

Make sure it is locked on, and possibly attach in reverse when carrying you camera by a shoulder strap. I knocked my first one loose, and lost it while walking through a fairgrounds.
