I use my camera gear a lot. Mack Extended Warranties have definitely paid for themselves many times over. Use a DSLR almost daily for a couple of years and things are bound to go wrong.

While Canon is great about fixing stuff, I must say it's a LONG process to send the camera first to Mack (in New Jersey), wait for them to send it to Canon, wait for Canon to fix it (usually the quickest step, to Canon's credit), wait for it to be shipped back to Mack, and wait for return shipping. Sometimes it sits on Mack's shelf for a week before they ship it back. The whole process can easily take three or four weeks, during which you must either have a backup camera or go without your hobby. If saving money is not your concern, I'd advise you just to have your camera fixed locally or ship it directly to Canon yourself. But you may save hundreds of dollars by carrying the Mack warranty.

Also be aware that the standard Mack warranty will not cover accidental damage (including water damage). It will, however, cover pretty much any normal equipment failure even after extensive use.

I travel overseas extensively and wanted something to cover my camera body while I'm out of the U.S. (since the Canon bodies are only warranted in the U.S.). Haven't needed to use it, and I hope I don't - but it's good to know I have somewhere to turn if the camera body breaks while I'm traveling.

Sounds like a good idea

This sounds like a good idea, and intellectually it makes sense. But I'm always skeptical of insurance, because it seems if there is any loophole, insurance companies will find it and exploit it at the expense of their customers. I hope I never have to use this policy, and if I ever do have to use it I hope it will pay of!!!!
